Privacy policy
The short version: DogDecide does not ask you to create an account, does not sell anything directly, does not sell your data, and does not run advertising cookies of its own. The calculator runs entirely in your browser — the numbers you type are never sent to us.
What we collect
Anonymous visit statistics
We use privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. This records aggregated information such as the page requested, the referring site, the country derived from your connection, and basic device and browser type. It does not create a profile of you, does not follow you across other websites, and does not use cookies or local storage to identify you.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard request logs — IP address, timestamp, requested URL and user agent string — for security and abuse prevention. These logs are retained for a short period and are not used for marketing.
Calculator inputs
The dog cost calculator performs all of its arithmetic in your browser using JavaScript. The values you select — size, age, budget and so on — are not transmitted to us and are not stored anywhere. Closing the tab erases them.
If you email us
If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We keep correspondence only as long as it is needed to handle the matter, and we do not add you to any mailing list.
Cookies
DogDecide itself sets no cookies. Some third parties you reach by clicking an outbound link may set their own — see below.
Affiliate links and third parties
Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you follow one and sign up for a product, we may earn a commission. When you click one, the destination site may set a cookie so that the referral can be credited, and that site will apply its own privacy policy to anything you do there. We do not control those cookies and cannot read them.
If any advertising is displayed on this site, the advertising network may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure and target ads, subject to its own policies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and most advertising networks offer opt-out tools.
Your choices and rights
- You can block cookies, including third-party cookies, in your browser without losing access to any DogDecide tool.
- Blocking analytics scripts does not break anything on this site.
- If you are in a jurisdiction that grants you rights over personal data — access, correction, deletion, objection — write to us and we will respond within the period the law allows. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold about you is an email you sent us.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not knowingly process any personal data from anyone under the age of consent in their jurisdiction.
Data we never collect
- No account names or passwords — there are no accounts.
- No payment details — we do not sell anything directly on this site.
- No health information about you or your dog.
- No precise location data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top of the page will change with it, and significant changes will be noted on the about page.
